Parbati Patra and her family resides at Kalagachia village in Ranihati in the district of Howrah, West Bengal. Her husband was a zari worker and he used to take raw materials from local agents to do the work and in return used to get the making charges only. At that time the monthly income was Rs.800.
One day her child met an accident and after that he lost his memory and got brain decease. At that time they needed the money for the treatment of her child. She thought of helping her husband in zari work so that their income will increase.
"At that time staff of Village Financial Services came to our house and explained about the loan, I thought if we can buy materials and make our sari and sell it to the market, we can earn more", she said. She took a loan of Rs.3000 and since then onwards her family condition began to improve. At present her loan amount is Rs.12000 and her monthly income is more than Rs.3000 per month. Her son is now getting proper treatment under the guidance of a doctor in Kolkata. She is very happy to be associated with VFS and she wishes to have a much bigger place for her work.
